Being an enormous fan of the mystical, ephemeral beauty of Scottish rock gardens, I realized quite quickly that it would be unrealistic to copy those plants and style based on my present high desert location. I've pivoted somewhat by initially creating a dry rocky hillside with petrified wood along with various pockets of interesting drought tolerant plants. I've added a number of new borders for perennials and bulbs to add further spring/fall interest. However in the last few years I've worked on my front yard with various long rocky berms to hold any number of yucca, cacti, perennials and well...whatever is xeric.

The main focus always is the rock garden that's for sure, a modest homage to my fellow rock gardeners in Scotland and other suitable locations in North America (and Europe) ....a tantalizing way to enjoy all my favorite succulents.
